Romans 9

Bro Jezreel Inocencio

When we hear the phrase "God's chosen nation," what comes to mind?

The Bible is clear:

God chose Israel to be His own beloved treasure, His first-born son.

“For you [Israel] are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession”
Deuteronomy 7:6

Bro. Jezreel gives us a quick overview of how God loves and cares for His people Israel.

  • They are fed by God.

  • God provides them with shelter.

  • They are safe from their oppressors because of God.

Israel's journey from Egypt to the Promised Land provides as a spiritual "road map" for what to expect on our spiritual journey.

Israel's successes and failures can serve as lessons Paul says;

“Now all these things happened unto them for our types (examples) and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” (1 Corinthians 10:11)

God demonstrates his love and compassion for his people Israel in various manners. Despite seeing the multitude of mercies that God has given upon them, Israel remains doubtful.

How about Us??

It's so easy for us to become engrossed in the negative aspects of our lives! Rather than remembering all that God has already done for us.

From the beginning, God has chosen us. He loves us first, and he expresses his love for us. He claims that anyone who has received God's mercy has the special privilege of being called the people of God.

Peter said;

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

There is coming a New World Order in Christ without disease, aging, war, famine, hunger, murder, death, or any other part of the curse.

Romans 8:19-23 tells us that;

“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.”.

What an amazing future awaits those who have been chosen by God and are in Christ Jesus!
