Bro. Dom provides us an overview of our reading.
The event took place where the legion's healing (Mark 5).
To preach the gospel, our Lord Jesus Christ must walk around 25 miles.
This time Herod Antipas was in power (Mark 6:17-29)
People wanted Jesus to be their king
“There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him.”
Mark 7:32In verse 33, notice how our Lord healed the man.
“After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue.”
Mark 7:33“TOOK HIM ASIDE”
This suggests that Jesus gave the man a sign.
Bro. Dom uses the experience of Moses and Gideon from the Old Testament.
Exudos3:3, In the time of Moses speaks with God.
Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
In Judges 6:17, Gideon had the exact same experience.
Then he said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.
Gideon approached God and asked for a sign. At this point, Jesus took the man aside to ask God for a sign to heal him.
Jesus wants his listeners and his disciples to take away a lesson from the healing of the Deaf and Mute man.
In quietness and trust God is there.
"The Lord God has given His Son the tongue of the learned that he might speak a word in season to him that is weary. Sometimes our ears are dull of hearing, and when they are we usually find that we have also an impediment (hindrance) in our speech.
To take us away from the multitude to the isolation of a sick bed, or into that mental detachment which comes from solitude, is perhaps the only way towards healing which will give us ears to hear the joyful sound of his Gospel, and voice to speak forth his praise "

Scholars have a great deal of difficulty with this word, and widely varying opinions are offered as to its meaning and purpose.
What exactly does this word imply?
whether a musical term or not, carries the implication of pausing or resting. It is therefore a thought link for reflection or meditation.
Bro. Dom associates Pausing or Resting (Selah) with meditating on God's word and remembering the Lord's emblem.
We are not stopping just because we are pausing(Selah). It simply that whenever we require healing, we must be quiet in both the mental and physical. It indicates that we are talking with God in quietness and trust.
Sis. Anne Pearce writes,
"Dear Sisters, let us "Pause and Consider. "
Mark 7:37
People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”This miracle was a fulfillment of Isaiah prophecy:
Isaiah 35:5-6
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.
What a great message for all believers who are eagerly awaiting the complete fulfillment of this prophesy when we see Jesus in his second coming to save all who believe in him.
Bro. Dom finishes by quoting 1 Peter 2:24 and Isaiah 40:29,31.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
1 Peter 2:24He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faint
Isaiah 40:29,31.
Both passages describe the physical suffering Christ endured in order for us to be healed.
