"Samuel did what the LORD said. . ." (1 Sam 16:4)
When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, "Do you come in peace?"
"Do you come in peace?"
It appears that the people were terrified of him, as they asked him if he could come in peace. People may have considered their sins and will be judged as a result. The same as we are, when Jesus returns, we may be terrified, and our sins may come to mind during these situations. The majority of what we think in the judgment seat is about our sins, while the rest is about our worries.
and Samuel said. . . "No I come peaceably"
Due to the obvious fear of the people around him, he advised them not to be afraid because he had come to teach them how to offer a sacrifice to God. Because their method of worshiping God was not yet centralized during those times. As a result, Samuel taught the people a more sanctified way of conducting fellowship or offering a sacrifice to God.
