Bro Jodel James
“Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.” Proverbs 7:10 (NIV)
How well do we know Rahab?
Most people regard her as a sinful woman, a harlot, and an unfaithful character in the Bible. We have seen from the previous manuscripts illustrating the picture of Rahab that she was a sinner and an unfaithful woman. However, in the following verses, we see how she demonstrated kindness and a helpful trial by assisting God's people in their mission to spy on their very own city, Jericho. This is fully a clear demonstration of hope; the hope that was set for the nation of Israel.
Bro Jodel's first few words in his study emphasized the significance of having a broader vision in life. It's as if we should think more objectively. We won't be able to judge the portrait unless we see the entire canvas. Rahab made herself as one of the most promising candidates of Israel’s sure hope after the implication of her eloquent faith.
Joshua 2:6
“but she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had in order upon the roof.
“Why did she hid them in flax stalks?
Is there any significance to why Rahab used this to hide the spies?
Revelation 19:7-8
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him for the marriage of the lamb is come, and his wife shall made herself ready
8 And for her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
The preparation of the bride for the arrival of her groom.
Rahab could be the bride, and she is preparing for the arrival of the bridegroom. We have also been depicted as the bride, and we are preparing for a fine linen, clean and white.
The Sign Given to Rahab:
Joshua 2:18: “Behold when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window…
Scarlet thread symbolizes the blood shed outside the door in the time of Passover. (Exo 12:13)
“Scarlet Thread for the passing-over”:
Bro Jodel has highlighted faithful Rahab's assured life transition.
In Jos 2:15
- . . .cord. . .
In Jos 2:18
- . . .scarlet thread. . .
‘cord’ from Heb word ‘chebel’ which means ‘pain’ or ‘sorrow’
‘Scarlet thread’ from Heb word ‘tiqvah’ which means ‘hope’ or ‘thing that I long for’
From ‘cord’ to ‘scarlet thread’
From pain to hope
From sorrow to thing that I long for
Rom 5:3-4: 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
