One of the misquoted verse in the bible was 1 Timothy 6:10 it says "For the LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." Money is treated not as negative. In Fact money can be used in helping others. The problem comes in when we LOVE money than God. As Matthew 6:24 said, No one can serve two masters. Materialism could be considered a negative value IF being associated with greed and lack of spiritual values.
