Bro. Scott Maunder

“It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.”

Revelation 21:11

The Old City of Jerusalem is one of the most intense places on Earth. Christians consider it as the holiest of all places. In the Bible’s last remaining passages, there mentioned a city like crystal, it is the city called ‘New Jerusalem’. Its brilliance was described like that of a very precious jewel; like jasper, like diamond.

This study by Bro. Scott Maunder takes us on a tour of Jerusalem's old city, especially during the time of Christ. It allows us to imagine what life was like in ancient Jerusalem. Scott was able to take us on a walk through the old sidewalks to the city's old great halls using modernization tools. Visiting the old city, from heavy pillars and temple courts, to lush landscapes and mountaintops, reimagining the views of the city lights that Jesus and his disciples saw when strolling the garden of Gethsemane.

Scott has also addressed the courts and their functions, Herod's role and how his power governed the region, and the healing that took place in the Pool of Siloam.

As a Christian, we were perplexed when we virtually visited Jerusalem's old city. It takes us to a closer look at Christ's and his apostles' ministry journeys. It gives us a sense of how our Bible characters went about their daily lives with nothing more than a genuine calling and divine guidance.

These are crystal seasons in which we can ultimately see the clear reward that awaits those who walk humbly and serve at the Lord's table and in the congregation.
