A Season of Growth and Fellowship
As we reflect on the past few months, we are filled with gratitude for the vibrant activities that have brought us together in faith and service. This quarter, we celebrated the joy of learning and spiritual growth through our Sunday School Prize Giving, the Opening of Classes, and the inspiring Sunday School Teachers' Workshop. Each event has strengthened the bonds within our community, nurturing both students and teachers alike.
At the Bible Education Centers (BEC), our preaching work continues to flourish, spreading the message of hope and truth. Alongside these efforts, various initiatives and programs have kept our community engaged and energized in service.
We are also excited to share the latest update on the excellent sewing work at Tabitha, a meaningful initiative that continues to make a difference. Finally, as we look ahead, preparations are underway for the highly anticipated Youth Conference, which promises to inspire and unite young believers from all over. As we move forward, we are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul: “Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). May this spirit of love and service continue to guide us in all our endeavors
SUNDAY SCHOOL PRIZE GIVING: CELEBRATING THE JOY OF LEARNING
This quarter, our community came together in a heartwarming celebration as nearly 700 Sunday School students from across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were recognized for their dedication and hard work. Whether attending classes online or face-to-face, the students joyfully received their prizes, their faces lighting up with pride and excitement.
The Prize Giving was not just a moment to reward academic efforts, but an opportunity to celebrate each child’s spiritual journey. Across the Philippines, we saw students grow in their faith as they immersed themselves in lessons that brought the Scriptures to life. Teachers and parents alike were filled with joy as they witnessed the fruits of a year’s worth of commitment and collaboration.
In every region, from Luzon to Mindanao, this event was a true reflection of our shared dedication to nurturing the next generation. The effort of all ecclesias to facilitate both online and in-person classes ensured that students, despite the challenges of distance and circumstances, remained connected to God’s word.
This joyful occasion was made possible by the support of many. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the sponsors who generously donated and supported this work. We are also deeply grateful to the volunteer teachers, whose time, energy, and passion for sharing God's word. Finally, a special thanks to the parents, whose unwavering support and guidance have played a crucial role in each child's spiritual growth.
As we look back on this joyful occasion, we are reminded of the importance of supporting and encouraging our young learners as they continue to grow in knowledge and faith.
SUNDAY SCHOOL OPENING OF CLASSES: MATERIALS DELIVERED, LEARNING BEGINS
As the new Sunday School year kicked off in early August, excitement filled the air as students and teachers received their workbooks and coloring materials, prepared by the combined efforts of the BEC Team and Prime Strata staff. These materials were essential tools to guide students through another year of spiritual learning and growth. With the start of classes across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the logistical coordination ensured that all ecclesias received their supplies on time. For Luzon and Visayas, the Prime Strata staff managed the printing and preparation of the materials, while the BEC Team took responsibility for distribution in Mindanao.
These thoughtfully prepared resources are aligned with the three-year syllabus from the Australian Christadelphian Sunday School Union, now in its second year. The materials support students in both online and face-to-face classes, ensuring that no matter where they are, they can actively engage with the Word of God.
With materials in hand, students are now ready to dive into the lessons, and we look forward to seeing their spiritual growth as they embark on another year of learning.
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS' WORKSHOP: BUILDING STRONGER FOUNDATIONS
This quarter, we successfully conducted mini–Sunday School Teachers' Workshops in various regions and ecclesias across the Philippines. These workshops were essential in assessing the specific needs of each area, identifying opportunities for improvement, and emphasizing the vital role of commitment in being a Sunday School teacher. With the coordination of Sis. Eleanor Cruz, our dedicated Sunday School Coordinator, and the recording brothers in each ecclesia, the workshops aimed to foster a deeper sense of responsibility among teachers and strengthen their teaching methods. It was a valuable opportunity for teachers to share their experiences, voice their challenges, and collaborate on solutions that would enhance the learning experience for their students.
Bro. Joshua and Bro. Jodel traveled to conduct workshops in Mailag, Kalilangan, and Cebu Ecclesia, while Bro. Jodel and Sis. Eleanor conducted the workshop in Quezon City, Manila. These sessions were a success, thanks to the grace of God and the collaborative spirit of all participants. Each region brought its unique insights, which allowed us to address both regional needs and common goals, ensuring that our Sunday
School programs remain effective and inspiring.
We are grateful for the enthusiastic participation of all the teachers, and we remain committed to supporting their vital role in guiding our young learners on their spiritual journey.
PLANNED PHILIPPINE SUNDAY SCHOOL ONLINE BIBLE CAMP: DECEMBER 26-28, 2024
We are excited to share that we are organizing a Sunday School Online Bible Camp for our students, to be held from December 26-28, 2024. This will build on the success of previous events, including the Online Christadelphian Bible School (OCBS), which was organized and facilitated by the BEC Team in the Philippines, with the support of the Williamsburg Christadelphian Foundation (WCF), and promises to be another enriching experience for our young learners.
All students and teachers will receive the necessary materials ahead of the camp, ensuring full participation and engagement. Each region will have its own facilitator, and a main facilitator will oversee the entire class. With the help of the WCF, recorded video lessons will be shown during each session, providing valuable content to guide the students through their lessons.
In an exciting development, we are also extending invitations to other ecclesias in Asian countries to participate in this event, expanding the reach of the camp and encouraging greater fellowship across the region.
We are deeply grateful for the continued financial, material, and spiritual support from our donors and the WCF, whose contributions enable us to create these impactful events. Their dedication to supporting our Sunday School students is truly appreciated.
BEC INITIATIVES: SPREADING THE WORD THROUGH STUDY AND OUTREACH
The Bible Education Centers (BEC) continues to be a hub of spiritual learning and outreach, with a variety of initiatives aimed at sharing the Gospel and connecting with the local community.
Each week, we hold Bible studies at the BEC Shops located in Cagayan de Oro and Valencia City, providing a welcoming space for anyone seeking to explore the Scriptures more deeply. These studies have been a wonderful opportunity to engage with individuals, answer their questions, and guide them in understanding God’s word.
In addition to our weekly gatherings, we are also committed to reaching out to the youth through our monthly school preaching sessions at selected high schools in the city. These sessions introduce students to the Bible's teachings and encourage them to consider the impact of God's message in their lives.
Our presence extends to the community at large with the regular distribution of flyers promoting the BEC and other Christadelphian reading materials. Every week, we can be found in the park, engaging with passersby and offering them literature that introduces them to the truths found in the Bible.
For those who prefer to study from the comfort of their homes, we also conduct bi-weekly online Bible studies via Zoom, allowing participants from various locations to join in and grow together in understanding.
These initiatives, driven by the desire to spread the message of God’s love and truth, are bearing fruit as we continue to reach new audiences and deepen our connections with the community.
BEC INITIATIVES: TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH ONGOING ENGAGEMENT
At the Bible Education Centers (BEC), we have witnessed the transformative power of God's word through the steady engagement of several regular visitors. Among these visitors are members from different denominations, including a Seventh Day Adventist, a Fundamental Baptist, and a Bible Baptist. Over time, their consistent participation in our Bible studies and discussions has led them to reassess their own doctrinal beliefs.
Through their successive visits, these individuals began to see the truth in the Christadelphian teachings, with their perspectives gradually aligning with our understanding of Scripture. One notable outcome involved a Fundamental Baptist visitor, who, equipped with the knowledge he gained at the BEC, confronted his pastor about the wrong teachings on the Trinity and the wrong practices of tithing within their group. Today, two of these regular visitors have taken the next step in their faith journey by joining the Mailag Ecclesia, where they continue to learn, fellowship, and grow in their understanding of God’s word.
BEC PREACHING INITIATIVES: REACHING HEARTS THROUGH SEMINARS AND ECCLESIAL VISITS
Our preaching efforts continue to make a significant impact in various communities, driven by a commitment to share the message of the Gospel and nurture spiritual growth.
Monthly Bible Seminars have become a cornerstone of our outreach in the city. These seminars are held at popular local venues such as Jollibee and McDonald’s, attracting a student audience from nearby areas. Each seminar focuses on the first principle doctrines of the Christadelphian faith, providing a clear and accessible introduction to our beliefs and fostering meaningful discussions.
In addition to our city-based efforts, we also maintain a strong focus on ecclesial visits. Recently, Bro. Michael had the opportunity to visit Bohol as part of our regular ecclesial visits and at the same time to conduct the Sunday School Teachers’ Workshop. During this visit, he engaged with the local community and witnessed a significant event: the baptism of Justine Kaye Oning, an interested friend who has shown a keen interest in the teachings of the Bohol Ecclesia.
These activities reflect our ongoing commitment to spreading the Gospel and supporting the spiritual journeys of individuals across different regions. Through our seminars and visits, we continue to build connections, inspire faith, and welcome new members into our community.
UPDATE ON THE EXCELLENT SEWING WORK AT TABITHA SISTERS
We are delighted to provide an update on the remarkable sewing work being carried out by the Tabitha Sisters initiative. This project has not only been a source of financial support for our sisters but has also made an impact on our local community.
By crafting and selling various items, our sisters have been able to generate just enough financial support to meet the needs of themselves and their families. This initiative has empowered them to be self-reliant, while also fostering a strong sense of community spirit.
In addition to the financial benefits, the sewing project has strengthened our outreach efforts. The products created are often shared with the broader community, allowing us to extend our support and goodwill to those in need. This dual impact—both financial and communal—embodies the spirit of service and charity that is central to our mission.
We continue to be inspired by the dedication and hard work of the Tabitha Sisters, and we look forward to seeing the continued success and positive effects of this initiative.
ECCLESIAL ACTIVITY IN KALILANGAN ECCLESIA: "YOUTHNITY IN CHRIST"
The Kalilangan Ecclesia recently hosted a vibrant and impactful event for the young people in their community. Over the course of four days, the young members engaged in a series of activities Centersed around the theme "YouthNity in Christ."
The event featured insightful studies held at the ecclesial hall, with invited speakers from Cagayan de Oro Ecclesia: Bro. Jodel James, Bro. Joshua Khu, and Bro. Mitsban Khu. The focus of the event was to deepen the understanding of moral values and how they apply to the lives of young believers. The studies, held at the ecclesial hall, provided a platform for meaningful discussions and reflections on living a Christ-Centersed life. Through interactive sessions and group activities, participants explored key principles and practical applications of Christian values in their everyday lives.
With the support of Bro. Ernesto Facun, the recording brother, and Bro. Andrie Balacano, the CYC chairman, the event was a great success. Their leadership, along with the enthusiasm of the youth, made the studies engaging and transformative.
In addition to the enriching studies, the young people enjoyed a day of relaxation and fellowship with an outing at a local resort. This day offered a refreshing break from the formal sessions, allowing the participants to bond, have fun, and strengthen their relationships with one another in a more relaxed setting.
The success of this event underscores the importance of nurturing our youth and providing them with opportunities to grow in their faith while enjoying the fellowship of their peers. The Kalilangan Ecclesia’s dedication to this cause is commendable and serves as an inspiring example for other communities.
